ReplyDeleteMaybe we'll do some together! I highly recommend The Sunflower #31. Wisenthal begins it with an essay-size account of his being called from his WWII labor camp to spend time over several days with a dying German soldier who wants to "confess" to a Jew.It is a haunting experience. He explains why he made his decision. The rest of the book is essay-length responses from a number of noted theologians. They share a range of "possibilities and limitations." When I finished, I was surprised and a little bit upset that Wisenthal's action seemed the most appropriate.
